A New Friend

This is a fan art of Brian Kisinger's Otto and Victoria series, and it so happens to be timed with/for a little contest he's running, should be fun to see what all comes up for that.

So I've been trying to make myself draw for a long time now, and for some reason I finally got started with this. So props to Brian Kesinger for making something so awesome it was the kick in the motivation I needed to finally sit down and apply myself to learning to draw. (To be fair I had a class way back in high school, but it was all just sketching from objects, this is the first time I've really gone out and drawn from what I had in mind rather then just copying as accurately as possible a complete scene (read; still life) from in front of me.)

So I realized after I started this I was going through these basics steps while making this; I Observed, as much of Mr. Kisinger's art and style of these two as I could (reasonably). I Replicated it as closely as I could. (Victoria and Otto) and I Applied what I learned as best I could by adding in elements that did not have references I could cherry pick solutions from. (Orville, Pouch, and the rest of the scene) seemed like a nifty little three step processes I think I might try again on someone else.

Tools: Photoshop, Blender (to help with perspectives), and I did make use of a texture from CGTextures.com for the finally grungy overlay.
